Hi, I'm quite new to the forum. I've recently been working on a flash application aimed at improving sight reading skills, specifically for piano. It is very beginner friendly and can help even the most beginner pianists learn to read music. Here is the FastKeys link Hope you like it

Hi Marty, It definitely helps in note recognition and relating them to piano keys. I especially like the addition of B# How hard would it be to add another octave to the keyboard? A major element of sight reading involves the ability of moving along intervals, often not even thinking of note names. For example, you have played B and the next note is D# which is a (major) third up - so you move up 3 piano keys. However, with your one-octave keyboard I'll see B, then D# but there is no D# above B on the keyboard. So I have to move *down 6" for the D#. That destroys the reflex of moving along intervals that we want to establish if this is for sight reading. If you added an octave and maybe wrote something into the program that would avoid that situation (I'm not a programmer) that would make it all the more effective for sight reading.

Great app.
I wondered this as well.
Also a mode which perhaps retained the single octave keyboard but showed notes on the entire Grand Staff would make it all the better.

I have been using Note Attack ( http://www.musicmasterworks.com/midi_video_game_sheet_music.html). It's nice because you can use a midi keyboard with it. Initially I was just using my computer keyboard, but when I switched to using my midi keyboard I realized that "finger memory" is just as important as recognizing the name of the note.

Mmmm yes, that is a good point. Adding another octave is quite straightforward, but the problem lies in the screen space. I'm afraid that there just isn't enough room on the screen, however, I'll try and see what I can do. And yes, the grand staff is very possible and I'll implement that in the next release.
Thanks for the advice, Marty

Congratulations on creating that app. I can imagine it took weeks to make. You've received a lot of great feedback. Well done.
