Well everything of course smile

I can already tell you the stack of sheet music books has grown expediently since I took up the Piano. That being said I'm starting on the following "types" for now...
  • New Age
  • Movie Sountrack stuff (my ultimate fav)
  • Some Classical (Canon D, etc)
  • Billy Joel & Elton John (books) later on
I've got to re-do my "repertoitre" to include new stuff now (towards end of book #2) and drop off other stuff, that part is always fun..

cool

Two non-classical pieces I hope to learn (a long time form now, obviously) would be:

1. Victor's Piano Solo (from Corpse Bride)
2. Vamo Alla Flamenco (from FFIX)

CLASSICAL:
Fur Elise

DRAMA/ANIME/MOVIE OST MUSIC:
Wo de Kuai Le (from the Taiwanese drama 'Fated to Love You')
Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa
Ano Natsu he (from 'Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi')
Swordsman of the Water (from 'Flame of Recca')
Comptine d'autre midi (from 'Amelie')
Sadame (from 'X Tv')
Sleepless Beauty (from 'Gravitation')

GAME MUSIC
Those who Fight (from FFVII - this is my 'ultimate goal')

STANDARD SONGS
Besame Mucho
Ikaw lang ang Mamahalin (love song from my country)
Where do I begin (theme from Love Story)
...and a lot more

CHRISTMAS SONGS
- I wanna learn to play them all, haha

DISNEY (haha)
Beauty and the Beast
Be Our Guest (from Beauty and the Beast)
Kiss the Girl (from the Little Mermaid)
Arabian Nights (from Aladdin)

Wow, so much music, so little time and ability! XD I keep most of the music I want to play someday in a clear file. They're still beyond my reach at the moment, but whenever I leaf through the sheets I feel a surge of excitement and inspiration.

Working on: Schumann Album for the Young, Clementi Op 36 No. 1 (all movements), Various Bach, Czerny 599

Blues
R&B
Jazz
Rock

Blue is my #1 because it is very versatile in my opinion. Classical is good for my form, but I love these kinds of music.

It's never too late to begin. Never stop learning.

A little bit of classical, but mainly pop/rock stuff. Lots of Elton John, Billy Joel and Ben Folds. I've been building up quite a collection of stuff far too advanced for me but I try to play some of it anyway. whome

I'll figure it out eventually.
Until then you may want to keep a safe distance.

More detailed "catching" and harmonization by ear, for pieces that no-one wrote sheet music for (at least known to the public) yet !

Melodic-metal: Leaves' Eyes, Epica, Within Temptation, Xandria...

Oh, and about that Slavic... that shrieking harmonization with a dissonant over-soprano drone in much Ukrainian folk... didn't see it anywhere explicitly written either. Gives a chilling impression of raw robustness that centuries of invaders could not dislodge.

Ahhhh nothing like gothic/folk/melodic metal. Where power, voice and melody get together. I've seen live all the bands you mention (with the exception of Xandria). I'm a total live-music-addict.

I've always wanted to play the big, impressive-sounding classical pieces. That hasn't changed...much.

Since I've actually started playing, though, I'm surprised that I've gravitated toward Rock music. I've been searching for easy versions of Linkin Park, Evanescence, Led Zeppelin, etc. Weird on the piano I know, but pounding on those keys can be very liberating!

I want to be able to play (and sing) the songs of Tom Lehrer at parties. I have the book "Too Many Songs By Tom Lehrer," but I'm not ready for it yet.

Also would like to play "L'Enfant" by Vangelis and "Opening" by Philip Glass.

As a chemist, Tom Lehrer's "The Element Song" is one of my favorites!

Ragtime, everything Joplin wrote. Some standards like Stardust, Tennesse Waltz. Classical, Bach, Beethoven, ..... Some Beatles songs, Some new age... other than that I don't know. Oh yeah, maybe some Randy Newman (Monk theme, "You've got a friend in me")...

Really depends, but a lot of my interest goes out to songs I hear in movies because they have the ability to touch me in an emotional way.
