I'd like to share another piece I've written recently. I recorded this today. Apart from the composition itself I'd like to share the eventual attainment of the ability to play parallel thirds - after painstaking practice - well enough to use them as a major musical idea in this piece. (This might ring a bell for those who kindly helped me with how to play this passage below, thank you ever so much)

The music is here:
Aero

It was originally going to be called Zephyrus' Sighs. However, lately I have been in post-exam regression and digged up Final Fantasy VIII to play, in the game was a spell called Aero which was depicted as rushes of wind attacking the opponent: a rather more vivid imagery. My Aero, however, is a much gentler depiction of the element Wind, comparising of "spinning" and "flowing" themes that tease each other, become inverted (spot it!), and are contrapuntally combined as the piece reaches a climax towards the end.

Please sit back and enjoy, and I'm grateful for feedback as usual smile

As always, fabulous! (did you write this one on the plane as you traveled to perform, or did you get to use a piano this time? smile or perhaps that was someone else). Felt like walking thru a fall day with the gusts swirling leaf cyclones. Great ending, too!!!!

I am curious if you play that passge above with two hands?

Bravo

Sorry I disappeared musiccr8r, thanks for listening! The passage above is in fact divided between two hands at the beginning. At the end, I "cheated" and omitted notes without losing the effect, resulting in the passage no longer being series of triads. Can give you a score if you like, just PM me your e-mail address (it's a hand-written draft, though, no plan to type it up yet!)

P.S. I did compose this one on the piano. After Snow Fantasia I don't think I like composing without a piano very much... you tend to overestimate what you can play! I guess if I had done this piece without the piano it would have passages like the figure in the OP played by the right hand at an insane speed with some equally crazy left hand accompaniment wink

That was impressive! I really like the rich texture you are getting and knowing the story behind the title helps a lot with understanding the mood behind the piece. Did the whole song grow out of that one passage you showed in your first comment?
