#1214693 - 06/09/09 01:55 PM Question about "The Michel Legrand Songbook"

Hi all,

I'm going to treat myself with The Michel Legrand Songbook, specially for two of the scores included:
The windmills of your mind and The umbrellas of Cherbourg.

But before putting my credit card to work I'd like to know if the versions are in some sort of jazz-style.
I don't like jazz and I wouldn't buy it if it is.
(Sorry jazz-lovers, no offence intended, it's just a matter of personal taste)

Can anybody share any information about that book?

Thanks in advance.

Going by the one page that you can preview, this is a simple pop arrangement, nothing jazzy. Also, as a general matter, if the book has a vocal line (3 staffs, one for vocal, two for the piano), it will not likely be a jazz arrangement.

Curious idea: Michel Legrand and "nothing jazzy" seem like a contradicion.

I know hat you mean.... some time ago I bought a couple of Michel Legrand CD's, and once at home I found to my dismay that them both were <jazzy>.

PD: Again, no offence intended to jazz-lovers. It's just that's not my thing.

I second that. There are II V I and fifth circles progressions all over the place.
