My console has developed a condition where some the notes in the contra bass continue ringing when released only when humid.
It will stop if you press the neighboring key.

The humidity might just be a coincidence. Sounds like a center pin is sticking out of one side or the damper head is bent slightly maybe. Could be a pin in the whippen too on one side. Pull the key lever out and have a closer look…....this will let the whippen fall farther than normal....

It could also be a monocord damper slightly out of alignment so that it rubs on the neighboring damper. There are other things it can be as well. Just start trying things and eliminating them as possibilities as you go, and you'll get it. This is good practice for your diagnostic skills--one of the most valuable tools in your kit!

I've taken a peek at those dampers.It appears the tips of the felts are contacting their neighbors.
For a fix,could those felts be trimmed,or should they be replaced?
