I wrote all of this tonight except for a four measure fragment that I'd written while writing another rag, couldn't use, and found earlier today on my hard drive. I decided to write an entire rag around that four measure fragment, and that is exactly what I did.

That's a total of 60 rags now, most written since January.

I tried to make use of motivic development in this piece, taking material from the four measure fragment and transforming it in different ways, as well as modifying other material. The form is also unusual in that the second strain modulates to the sub-dominant, and the third strain modulates to the relative minor. The last strain revisits the starting material of the first strain, but completely re-imagines it with a dramatic sweep up to the heights of the keyboard.
