I am looking for easy cello + piano ensemble pieces for beginners. Both the pianist's (age 6) and cellist's (age 5) playing skills are about mid-way through Suzuki Book 2. Original literature is preferred; however, well-arranged transcriptions are acceptable. Cello solo with piano accompaniment is NOT acceptable.

Can you help please? It is really hard to find anything at their playing levels. Thanks.

Try www.sibeliusmusic.com, or www.finale.com, I know with finale you can select the difficulty of the piece, and I know the sibelius site you can preview the scores. Or you can commission someone to write a piece for a pretty reasonable fee. I might have a few pieces that I've composed that originally for clarinet and piano, but can change the key easily, also the slow section of a trio I recently composed for clarinet, cello and piano is just cello and piano, there's nothing faster than eighth notes in either part, and only in the cello part.

Meri, thanks for your response. I found a couple of pieces on the finale site that may work (none on the sibeliusmusic site). But I will have to check with the ensemble organizer to see if these pieces qualified as "music written and published by recongnized composers."

It must be very hard to find a piece at the said level. With so many experienced piano teachers on the forum, I am surprised that there is only one reply.

Bigcake -

Not a teacher, but an adult piano student with a daughter who is learning cello.

I found this list very helpful

http://www.acmp.net/media/biblio_piano.pdf

We are learning 2 pieces from the Mihaly Hajdu set. Last year we learned several pieces for piano, cello and violin, pulling in a friend of my daughter's who plays the violin.

I hope this helps

Dorrie- Thank you so very much for the list. That is exactly what I am looking for.
