#1224503 - 06/29/09 02:04 PM Can commercial pedals replace SP-30 of PX-320?

I have bought a new PX-320. I bought the wooden stand thinking I would get an SP-30, but I learn't from this forum "Casio SP-30 serious problems" that they are fragile and break, with no hopes of repairs.

So, my question is: is there a 3-pedal unit or single pedals that I can use to replace the SP-30 unit of Casio PX-320? I had the following two for the sustain pedal:
1) Korg DS1H Piano with Half-pedal feature
2) StudioLogic VFP310 3-pedal unit

Also, not sure why StudioLogic VFP310 has 3-pedals for a sustain pedal feature; the rep said they were not for sostenuto or soft! Would you know how they are used in that case?

I would like to have the half-pedal feature as well as the other pedals I would otherwise get from a SP-30 unit.

Thanks.

You haven't even gotten the piano yet? Wait till you get it.
I'm sure the pedals will work okay.

I believe this piano comes with a damper pedal. You only
need one pedal. Buying a 3-pedal unit for a digital
piano would be a complete waste of money. And you don't
need half-pedaling. All a half-pedal does is teach
you sloppy pedaling technique.

If it doesn't have a pedal, then any aftermarket damper
pedal would be okay. These are about $15-$30.

I just ordered it, waiting for it. I was going to get the three pedal for it, but I guess it is not needed like you said, so then I can just use the one that comes with it or buy one of the others if this seems bad. Thanks a lot for your reply. I think I made the right choice. Do you like the PX-320?

Au contraire, half-pedaling is great. But it's a big ripoff you have to purchase one of those ridiculously flimsy 3-pedal units from the manufacturer to get it. You can break these things just be looking at them wrong. Apparently true for both Casio and Yamaha units...
