I'm really enjoying everybody's contributions this month! smile

Here's a little bossa nova tune, inspired to be played by finding a tone setting on my Roland keyboard called "Seashore", which I'm using for the intro and ending...

Elssa - I enjoyed that a lot - that was quite a production there with the strings just like the original Wave!

Dennis - Thanks buddy. It's time to put your expensive keyboard to use. smile

John Frank - I like that imagery smile Thanks!

Elssa - really nicely done -hadn't heard this tune in years - accompaniment soundtracks subtle and pleasing too - as always, lots of feeling and just the right touch -I'd really miss you if you didn't show up here in the "bar' every month!

Regards, JF

Elssa - You are really putting that KR-7 thru its paces. One day, you may have to give me a tutorial on some of that stuff. That was a very cool sound you came up with there (and good playing, of course, to boot!)

Dennis - I'm glad you enjoyed ' Danny Boy.'

Ed - I really like your big lush chords and treble ornaments on this one. I know you use a digital but it sounds like you are playing on a huge, shiny black grand and wearing a tux.

Jazzwee - Wow - this is fantastic. You and your new Yamaha sound terrific. Even though you have a Steinway you have to be very pleased with the quality of this recording and the richness of tone of your DP.

I always liked how the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood" sounds similar to Bob Dylan's "Fourth Time Around." I have been playing around with this for years...here is something of a combination of both songs.
Warning: Vocals.

Mucho Gracias everyone for your kind comments. smile

"I kept waiting for you to start singing "

Well, if I had anywhere near Bill's great skills at singing and playing together, I'd give it a try, but at this point I can only do one or the other, and my singing needs a lot of work. confused I was tempted to sing tho because I love the lyrics. If someone could help me with adding (overdubbing?) voice onto the recording, I might give it a shot. grin

"I'd really miss you if you didn't show up here in the "bar' every month!"

Thanks, JF. smile I always enjoy coming to this particular "piano bar" - such great people, ambience, and they serve delicious margaritas here as well. smirk

Glad you enjoyed the sounds of the keyboard - I thought the "Seashore" setting sounded pretty much like real waves, so I added that in at the beginning and ending.

angelojf - I really enjoyed this. Although the recording quality wasn't good you put a lot of emotion into your singing and your piano playing is really quite good.

Elssa, that was really good. To play those intricate rhythms so perfectly while sounding so relaxed - that takes some doing. My teacher gave me a Jobim arrangement a year or so ago, and I just gave up on it. You made it sound easy. Well done.

Angelojf, wow, another person who can sing and play piano at the same time! Love the way you combined the pieces, and your comping and singing are first rate. Good job.

Thanks, Riddler! I'm sure you'd have no problem if you do what I did - make up your own rhythm/arrangement. I was just shooting for some time of latin/bossa sound and let my left hand do it's own thing with that in mind, using some kind of dotted rhythm. I was taught a bossa nova/clave type rhythm years ago by a teacher, but when I consciously try to follow it now when playing a song, I can't keep doing it for very long without forgetting it and getting lost, so I don't even try to use it now and just make up something as I go. It's probably close to what I learned but not quite the same. wink

Hello, I took Piano I last spring after noodling around for several years but I am an accomplished vocalist, songwriter and guitar player. Here is my "first" piano composition, I put it behind, rather incongruously, a video I did of the San Francisco Bay to Breakers event. That is me in the foreground.

Nicole.... if you can cut your film right there at the end of the music you might have a classic You-tube film. It's almost surreal. grin

Thanks! I don't know why but my HD video goes slow motion when I put it up on you tube, the original video is synced with the audio. But the slo mo does create a surrealism that is kinda cool.

angelojf - that was wonderful! and you sing quite well! Very Beatles sounding including your voice.

Nicole - Welcome and an interesting composition. Almost sounded like Russian or Eastern european folk music.
