Hi,

I have recently purchased a Gem RP800 and am very impressed with it's quality.
I also have a Roland Stage Piano which I use for performing, but wanted something slightly different at home for recording and scoring.
I use Sibelius 5.2 as my software, and have never had a problem before, but the RP800 only seems to play 1 midi channel even though it has 16.
Is this just how this piano is? Will it only support one channel at a time, or can anybody help me set it up correctly as I cannot find anything online or in the manual to suggest how to do this..

Many Thanks in advance..

Mark

I no longer have an RP800 to verify this, but as far as I recall you can use function F3 to direct a differedt MIDI input channel to the main voice, the layered voice (when in dual or layered mode), and the split voice (when in keyboard split mode). You can also direct a MIDI channel to the so called COMMON voice, which I am assuming would cause it to be heard on all currently active voices (i.e. main + layer if in layered mode, etc.).

I hope the above is enough to get you started, and apologise now for any misconceptions. I suggest you experiment by setting the main. layer, split and common to (say) channels 1 to 4 respectively using function F3. You can then output from your software on each of these channels (one at a time) and determine how your piano reacts in its different modes (single, layered, split).

As an example, I think you would be able to use main +
common to direct 2 MIDI streamd (e.g. left and right hand parts) to the main voice. Alternatively you could presumably direct the two parts to different voices using main + layer.

Hope this helps.
