I have received a message from a well-known source that preliminary plans are underway for a 2-day piano gathering on beautiful Old Cape Cod.

Added following note from novalinda (one of the hosts)...

"It's official. The date for the Piano Party is Sat. Oct.10. It will be in Orleans on the Cape and hosted by the same trio as 2 years ago. The Sun. Oct 11 brunch is still not set in stone. The Howes would like to host it again but are waiting on their children's regatta schedule.

To answer some previous questions. It usually begins around noon and goes to whenever. The time distance from Providence is about 1 1/2 hours.

I'll post more info as we have more planning sessions.

We will have 5 more guests from central NY who are not members but hope to come. If so, they are fine musicians and good listeners (and good cooks).

Hope many more will be coming. Just 3 1/2 months away. It's a great time of year on the Cape.

i think we have family weekend at yale that weekend, but if the schedule allows, i would love to be there, since i'll be in the vicinity (or at least, closer than montana!)

i'll pencil it in and hope it will work out.

if it turned out to be the following weekend, it might be easier to commit, but again, it's a pencil, not a pen, at this point.

Sounds great, count me in.

I Love the Cape in the fall. Count me in! Unless Frank says that I can't go!

Good question, not sure our hosts have gotten that far yet.

Is that going to be Oct 10-11? How far is the party place from Providence, RI?

I'm still waiting to hear back on the dates.

It's under 2 hours from Providence, and a beautiful ride, particularly if
you take scenic route 6A.

We are planning on coming up from S. Florida.

I could come if it were the following weekend (Oct. 17th-18th). I have a concert on the 11th.

For those who are unaware of LisztAddict's piano adventures, he was up here recently for the Boston Int'l Piano Competition. I'm thrilled to know I'll be able to hear him play this time after having missed his performance during the competition.

hv (Howard)... I've always enjoyed your many contributions and especially the recordings of your wife playing at different events. Very pleased to know we will all have a chance to meet you and Susan (correct??)


Louis XV.. I'd love to see pics of your Steinway if you are able to join us. I didn't see any previously posted.

And as always, Eric, Lilylady, Frank, Ladyford, Woodfab, all our Cape members, this is a fantastic opportunity to meet up with everyone. I hope others who frequent our local gatherings are "psyched" by this event and will chime in to say so.

Thanks to the host families for allowing the plans to be posted at an early date allowing those coming a distance to have advance time to make their travel arrangements.

I've already noticed my practice time has increased! October will be here before you know it!

found out last night that family weekend is oct 9-10-11.

if junior is playing in the saturday football game, we won't be able to make it.

if he isn't, we possibly can.

or if mr. pique decides to bag family weekend, i could be there.

EXCEPT-- our wedding anniversary is on oct. 11th, so i do want to be with mr. pique that weekend.

we probably won't be able to commit before some time in september.

I'm jealous, I'd love to come. If I was a stronger swimmer, I might.

Hello Cape Cod Pianists,

I live on the Oregon Coast - about as far from you Cape Cod as I can get - so I doubt I will be able to join you for your party in October. BUT - I would like some information about your party. It would be wonderful if we could have a West Coast version.

PS I was on the Cape in late April presenting an organ and media concert, "From Sea to Shining Sea" at the Lutheran Church in Orleans. Lovely place - stayed at the historic Inn on the bay in Orleans - quite a treat.
