What a fascinating composer!
I'm only on the "Childrens' Pieces" (clever little devils) but I love him
My acute ear for music is no earthly good here as he shoots off into heaven knows what combinations.
And My sight reading, which I've been becoming smug about, has taken a bashing - all those bass notes way above the stave,and Flat and Unexpected !
My Tutor assures me that I will conquer but at the moment I'm trying to make sense of it - and failing !
She also tells me that when she was a concert pianist she played Dimitri's music with his son.
Oh small gleam of reflected Glory !

I've enjoyed almost all of the Shostakovitch, Kabalevsky, and Bartok pieces in the Keith Snell series I've been working on. I have a copy of Shostakovitch's Preludes and Preludes and Fugues that I would like to be able to play someday.
