Metamorphosis-I think this is in 5

I am trying to figure out the rhythm on this

I think the phrasing on the first part is 1 bar of 4/4 and 4 bar of 3/4... and the next phrase is in 6+6+4 the sax/trombone unison part is 6+3+3+4.. all the phrases add up to 16 beats or 4 bars of 4/4. So I guess the score is written in 4/4 and all the other timing are implied within 4/4.

I can't figure out how to phrase the last section with the hits.. I know its 6+ something..like 6+3+3+4. The hits, if you count it in 4/4 happens like this
1st measure 1 2 &
2nd measure 3 &
3rd measure & of 2
4th measure (1)&2&

any thoughts?

Wow what a groove in Metamorphosis. It's definitely in 5. I love when it breaks into the swing feel for a brief moment...

Will check out Free For All next and post my thoughts...

Thanks for posting these etcetra
