Wouldn't it be nice if the recital pieces could be posted as they are uploaded during the 15 days that it is run? Each day there would be new material to hear, without being hit with 60-70 or more pieces all at once. Each piece would have its at the top moment also...
Thoughts?

But that's sort of what we have now with piano bars. I kinda like the grand unveiling of the recitals, as it makes it special. +1

[She says not a little hypocritically, as she has been known to cheat and listen to the recital pieces early. ] The piano bars pieces are not generally peoples concentrated best works and are very informal. When we get hit with over 70 pieces its overwhelming. I just thought it would be nice to listen to recital pieces gradually over the 15 days. Real recitals go one at a time..

Hmmm? I wonder if I will ever be (or think I am) good enough to even record myself playing something. Just the thought of it make me nervous-LOL

I think recitals would be less of a special event if the pieces were available over weeks rather than in one grand unveiling. I enjoy the anticipation and delayed gratification of finally hearing pieces people have talked about, revised, and jockeyed positions over during the posting period. All that would be lost with instantly available postings. I say leave that aspect of recitals alone.

Just the thought of it make me nervous-LOL Just get into the habit of recording yourself all/most of the time you practice. The more you record yourself, the easier it gets. Besides, I bet you're pleny good enough to record something for the recital already.

I'm one of those folks with a sign that says "If it wasn't for the last minute, a lot of things would never get done." If the recital was spread out, so there wasn't really a last minute, I'd never be in one! Well, I guess there'd be a "last" last minute at some point, but by then I'd be on to something else. I have been known to do my recital comments a couple of months after the recital was posted Cathy

I need to break out my new H4n and learn how to use it. It came in the mail a couple of weeks ago. I'll have to see if I have something I can record and submit :-) It would be my first on-line recital.

The piano bars pieces are not generally peoples concentrated best works and are very informal.
I respectfully disagree - while in format the Monthly Piano Bars are more informal, I put as much time and work into the pieces I submit there as I do with Recital pieces, and thus consider them some of my "concentrated best works" - and I think this may be true of many or most others who submit to the Bars. In general quality level even the most discriminating listener probably couldn't tell the difference between the two categories of pieces. As someone mentioned, once the Recital is released you can listen to the pieces at your leisure and at any pace you wish, including as few as one a day if you so desire. Regards, JF

Anthony - I think that would be a trip. But, just sos you know, there's no way I could keep up with the Joneses if they start broadcasting recitals live I'd be the last one using boxnet for .mp3's - But it'd be fun. I'm not sure I could watch this Fri because we're playing for a dance the next night and we usually have a last minute practice. But sometime. . . Cathy
