Solo piano recordings of the work are somewhat uncommon. There's a wonderful recording of the composer's arrangement for two pianos by the Labeque sisters.

But since you're OK with arrangements, you may want to consider this rendition.

Die Krebs gehn zurucke,
Die Stockfisch bleiben dicke,
Die Karpfen viel fressen,
Die Predigt vergessen.

Die Predigt hat g'fallen.
Sie bleiben wie alle.

The one I have [ 28 pages] was published by NEW WORLD MUSIC CORPORATION...in smaller print there is also Warner Bros Publications....it's a good transcription for piano solo...can't imagine there would be a better one.

Thanks, but my question is about recordings, especially ones available on iTunes. Larry

I think this one is pretty good:

Frank Braley

Gershwin's own piano roll is good too. I have it on an LP but listen before buying it on a CD as some versions of it are truncated and otherwise tampered with.

Check out Mark Flugge. He does an absolutely killer jazz arrangement that goes on for about 8-9 minutes but its all excellent. No band. No orchestra. Just him & the piano.

And its on iTunes.
