Hi there
I don't know if anyone can help but about a year ago I joined a learning school called mwmtv with which you purchased videos to learn how to play the piano. Unfortunately the website is now no more and I cannot play the video lessons as I cannot access the website. Does anyone know if there is a way to play the videos standalone.
Cheers

What type of file are they? If it is an avi file and you're trying to figure out the codec, you can save a lot of time and get the free vlc player. It is pretty famous for this. I don't really use it other than when I come across strange formats. http://www.videolan.org/Flash. These files could also be swf or flv files. You can get free players for those too.

Thanks for the reply.
It is a .mwm file which suggests it is their own format. I tried downloading the vlc media player but it does not recognise the format.

Take a look at this: http://www.heiner-eichmann.de/software/mwconv/mwconv.htmIn a quick google for the .mwm format, this is what came up. The page is a discussion of the "mail warrior" format, which may or may not be what you are looking for (though it does have the .mwm extension, apparently). At the bottom of the page is a link to a downloadable zip file containing the conversion program the author of the page is talking about. If this is not what you need, I would suggest doing further google searches to find any other information about anything dealing with the .mwm extension. Tony

Here is another possibility: http://sourceforge.net/projects/replayer/...and it seems more likely since it is intended to download media files, one of which is apparently the .mwm file format. I believe that your files were actually intended to be streamed from the site, rather than downloaded and played locally. Tony

That mwm file is just a text based file for Email. I would guess this format is just one of the regular formats but with deliberate errors systematically placed. Only the licensed player skips over the errors. Google Video did this years but a few video converters would ignore the errors and you could convert it to a clean avi/mpeg file. Some would refuse to recognize it too so figuring it out won't be fun. Arnie, I guess you'll have to buy something else. Maybe this guy on youtube could help you out? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZh7ViYL7f0It this video from the series? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jXFINyh4UY

Hi Devane
Yes the youtube video is one of the video's I have got. Phil Amos is the chap in the video who is the teacher.. He was on this site a couple of years ago. I have sent him a private message as I don't have his email but he has not answered.
Looks like I have lost the use of these for good. A lesson to learn for the future when buying lessons I guess.
Thanks for your help.
