Thanks JF. I love what you said about breaking up the whole note chords. That's exactly why the sheet music looks simple; the LH is simply holding a chord throughout each measure. I will probably pedal through each chord change (ie each new measure).

Here is my second try of Tristesse:

I mean, not perfect, but I think it's better than what I played a week ago. Let me know what you think.

Waltz - Yes, better - not that there was much wrong with your previous version, but this is a little slower & smoother with a nice "romantic" feel - fine job!

Keep up the good work - your enthusiasm is contagious!

Regards, JF

Hi Everyone and a warm welcome to both wj3, and Pattylyn!

I'm still here but haven't been able to practice much, but absolutely love it whenever I do. I just spranged my ankle yesterday during a tennis game so I guess I'll have a little more time now. smile

TTigg: Congratulations on conquering yet another live recital, and especially those sewing machine legs. grin Looking forward to hearing many more of your recordings as well, especially the Canon in D.

Wreen: Very wise decisions indeed, I guess it's always nice to be able to go back and practice some of the old pieces with a little more experience behind us. I certainly am still enjoying some of my old favorites. [Linked Image]

Waltz: I wasn't at all surprised that you learned the Chopin piece in one week. Fabulous job! I absolutely loved your second recording of it. Beautiful!

Cheers,

Key Notes smile

Thanks Key Notes laugh

Sorry about your ankle, those types of injuries aren't pleasant at all. I did not know you played tennis, it's a tough sport and can certainly involve ankle sprains (the stop and go nature of it). The good thing about piano is that it only requires so much athleticism and many injuries will not impede our ability to play and practice.

Thanks Waltz. smile Yes, while I've had only one other ankle sprained incident during a dance event, this is the first time that it happened after a few years of tennis. So it's not that bad.

Back to practice now. smile

Welcome Guinnie. I am new here also. I have been working on on "Bridal Chorus", but it will probably be put on hold until after I can get my recital piece submitted. I am hoping I will be able to get it submitted before the deadline even if I have a few mistakes.

OK so update on the Zoom stuff. Did a bunch of "test recordings" a while back but never got round to actually uploading them to see. Managed to get a good test recording of Tumbalalaika done so there that is!

Tumbalalika.mp3

I'm prob still going to mess with some settings down the road but this proves to me the Zoom rocks! I only amplified a little in Audicity to bring it out a little.

I have some more Furlough days coming (sigh) so this Friday I will be getting some recordings done of my recital piece and some other favorites from books #1 & #2 smile

I was also doing some test recording with the video camera although "syncing" up the audio etc might take some extra work but it's going to be a fun project..

Stay tuned...

Beautiful Ttigg, and I mean that. If you can sync the audio with a video (and then a little youtube action), I would be thrilled. It's really helpful, for me, to be able to see the persons hands while I listen to the music. Regardless, I'm glad your zoom is working.

Thanks Waltz,

Yeah I'm going to get some stuff done on Wednesday (maybe) but for sure on Friday when I'm off. I figure I can leave the video camera going and just edit(sync) up with various files, we'll see how it goes..

That sounded really great TTigg! That's one of the pieces that isn't in the All-In-One edition - too bad.

thumb Thanks, well for book #3 we're all going to be on all-in-one since there isn't a separate choice smile

Well, here is my performance of the theme from the Polovetsian Dances:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Obqq1Y0JLiA

The great thing about recordings are they allow you to see/hear yourself playing in a more objective fashion. I had no idea I was playing this piece at that speed until I listened again. That was probably on the faster end of "moderato" instead of the slower side I had thought I was playing. I also modified the lighting for a slightly different atmosphere laugh
