Although the August, I end every evening my daily pianopractice with 'Im wunderschoenen Monat Mai (In the wonderful month of May) It's a very lyrical track of music. Another song from this series Dichterliebe Op.48: Ich will meine Seele tauchen (I will immerse my soul) I call these songs little musical paintings. And an equally good example from Myrthen Op.25: Du bist wie eine Blume (Sweet as any flower). Very nice and recommended. Best regards, Johan B

Ah yes! Im wunderschönen Monat Mai From Dichterliebe I also love Am leuchtenden Sommermorgen. What about Liederkreis op.39? So many wonderful songs - Wehmut - and the incomparable Frühlingsnacht. Think I need to go and play some Schumann - thanks Johan

We are all on the same wavelength here! - the more I hear Dichterliebe the more I admire it - I always love the final song 'Die alten, boesen Lieder' - no one but Schumann could have written that.

I often end my practice sessions with the Aria from Bach's Goldberg Variations. It makes me feel peaceful.

When I was in high school, I had the great pleasure of accompanying a soprano in Dichterliebe. Johan, do you have Theodor Kirchner's piano solo transcription of Dichterliebe? You can download it here: http://www.henseltlibrary.org/scores3.htmlAlso there are Myrthen and Liederkreis, two of my other favorites. Mel

You're very welcome, Johan.
Also check out Clara Schumann's transcriptions of her husband's songs in four volumes, at henseltlibrary.
They're very nice straight-forward transcriptions, a little easier than the Kirchner.
My favorites are Fruehlingsnacht, Die Lotosblume, Der Nussbaum, and Widmung.
In Der Fremde is hauntingly beautiful.
