Piano World party anyone? Please join us as we celebrate the opening of our new showroom and music school in Stamford, CT on Sunday, September 13th, starting at 2:00PM! All Piano World members are cordially invited!!! Yes…it’s probably the most belated Piano world party ever…as construction for our new building took about a year longer than expected. But as we’re finally settled in, it is now the time to celebrate!!! In addition to refreshments, in attendance shall be some of the most wonderful pianos available, made by Bluthner, Bosendorfer, Steingraeber, Estonia, Steinway, August Forster and more… Also, special guests as Dr. Christian Bluthner of Bluthner pianos, and Udo Steingraeber of Steingraeber pianos, already confirmed their arrival from Europe. BosiEric is rumored to have already started his journey from faraway Norwalk, CT, and Estonia pianos has a special surprise planned! Other industry guests are sure to come as well. We are located about 45 minutes by car or train from Mid Town Manhattan, 30 – 35 minutes drive from George Washington, Whitestone, or Tappan Zee bridges…and only minutes from Westchester county NY…so whether you’re coming from Fairfield county, Westchester,NYC, Long Island or New Jersey,…we’re within easy reach! We're at 1068 Long Ridge Rd. in Stamford CT. 06903, exit 34 on the Merritt Parkway (Long Ridge Road). When heading North from NYC, make a left at the end of the exit ramp, and we're about 300 yards on the left side. We’re looking forward to seeing you all! Those who may be able to attend, please let me know. One shot of downstairs: One of Upstairs: More Pictures

I'll be there 'with bells on' to attend THIS GALA GATHERING! Hoping to get the crew from New England to join in the festivities. Hmmmmm...let's see, what piano might I try out first? Or...maybe this will be a sit back and enjoy all the others playing party... I know there will be some heavy hitters attending! PARTY TIME!

Ori,
Alanna and I are planning on attending (we've been down your way twice this summer, but we've missed you both times). Aaron (from Yamaha) *might* be attending as well, I haven't heard back from Paul, but I did ask him.
I have seen the new facility from the outside, and wow - what a great job you did!

Lililady, Jeff BC and Rick. It will be great to see you here! Frank, we’re all looking forward to seeing You as well, so Please try to make it happen. By the way. It seems that today’s hot topic is the new Larry Fine supplement piano guide…Well, Larry is coming as well, and promised to bring some signed copies of the new guide with him! To Piano Dad and those who can’t make it, and especially Apple whom I wanted to meet for years (I hope you feel better soon!), there is plenty of time to change your mind and take a train, plane or car ride…but if not, we hope to see you another time. In any case, thank you all for the comments on the new showroom…it took awhile to build but I think it was worth the wait!

I'd like to go but I live in San Diego. Now what about a piano party out here? Malibu, San Diego, San Francisco ... now that would be something huh? ok, so when are you having one? We've had a few parties in LA and San Juan Capistrano (did I spell that anywhere near right?). But I'd love one in any of the places you mentioned. I used to go to San Diego and Carlsbad frequently when I worked for McGraw-Hill (publishing company). One of my favorite places in the country. Loved San Francisco too. Haven't been to Malibu.

Frank and LJC,
This is fantastic! It'll be great to see you here.
I noticed that I forgot to post our address...
We're at 1068 Long Ridge Rd. in Stamford CT. 06903. I'll edit my first post to mention this as well.
Looking forward to seeing you all.

Ori, Congratulations on your new fine piano store! Hope both you and the store are doing well. Thanks for the invite, and the three of us (wife, son and self) will be there - we never turn down a free party . Would appreciate either address (preferred), or GPS coordinaets, or direction for your store.

James,
It'll be great to see you guys here!
Yes we are right off exit 34 on the Merritt Parkway (Long Ridge Road). When heading North from NYC, make a left at the end of the exit ramp, and we're about 300 yards on the left side.
The signage on the building is rather clear and states in addition to 'allegro Pianos' , also 'Long Ridge Music center" which is our music school.
Oh…and Frank...for whatever reason I can't edit my first post to add directions. Any idea how to fix it?

I'm hoping to make it. Will be taking the train from NYC. To the Stamford station? I presume a taxi from the station will be easy... or is it withing a walk? Thanks, Don

The showroom is an easy cab ride from the train, but its not a walking distance. Taxi cabs are always waiting by the tracks. We'll be looking forward to seeing you as well! Thanks, Ori

Unfortunately I have a committment that day as a season's ticket holder of the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA.
Since Frank is there I will mail you some flyers for our first annual cruise in March. Post one if you would and give the rest to Frank.

Jerry and I are really sorry to miss this opening.
I am having a total shoulder replacement the following Thurs. the 17th in Boston, and am having company on top of that this weekend, or else we would be there.
Play pretty for us.

I'll see if I can make it down. I need hotel/motel details. It's about a 3 hour drive for me from Haverhill. I've had no response back from my friend regarding traveling. I'll have to definitely be back by Sunday night because I have school the next day. I'm a kid, I mean full-time student again! John

Ori – I have been travelling for the past two weeks, and so am only now able to let you know that I am eagerly looking forward to attending your party on September 13. It will be a wonderful treat to see your new store and to meet the other guests, including Piano World members and, of course, Christian Blüthner. See you on Sunday! Mike

Ori, your new showroom looks wonderful. I'm salivating at the idea of playing those pianos, and your list of stellar guests is enticing.
I'm thinking about coming. I'm busy in the morning though. Maybe if I can drive, I can make it.
My original idea was to take my bicycle on the Metro North train, but it still would be a 5 to 6 mile ride to Allegro, over who knows how hilly terrain. But my morning commitment nixes an early train.
Hope to make it, and hope it's OK to arrive at 3 or so. Stay tuned. If I go, I might be able to offer some New Yorker a ride there from Brooklyn/Queens (I could pick you up at a BQE exit).

Hi Joe, We’ll gladly have you even if you arrive at 3:00… It’s a really easy car ride from NYC, and should take no more than 30 – 35 minutes drive once you clear the tolls on the west side highway. If you’re coming by train, it takes about 44 minute from grand Central, less from 125th street. There is an express train every hour during the weekend, and there are always taxi cabs waiting at the station. We’ll be looking forward to both seeing you and hear you play. Thanks, Ori

Ori, thanks for your kind note. As you know, I did NOT make it up there. Turned out to be a day for appliance shopping, and as my wife works all week, it had to be today.
Nonetheless, I fully expect to make it up to your showroom one of these days soon. I'm sorry I had to miss the big party. I just know it was fun! I'm looking forward to the reports and pics.

I just wanted to thank Ori for the fine party. Great people, beautiful pianos and showroom, very talented musicians, great food and drink, what more can one ask for. Last night, I had some crazy dreams about a love affair with a Steingraeber 206. Damn, I need a life.
Anyway, congratulations again Ori and much success.
It was nice meeting everyone.
Thank you,
Rick Shapiro

To all concerned, This thread is meaningless without pictures!! They are coming! I took a bunch of pics but just got home exhausted from a 6 hour auto adventure. I am working on cropping the pics right now but really need to get out and water my plants, which totally got ignored in favor of one big piano celebration!!! I might start a new thread if no one else has yet.

It was wonderful to get together with the Piano world crowd. It was certainly worth the 90 minute trip from my home. After taking lessons for six months (and practicing on a digital piano), I thought I had a particular piano in mind, and now it is back to the drawing board! I understand that buying a piano is an adventure in itself! Had a wonderful time!

Hotkeys,
It was nice seeing you and all other piano world members! Thank you for taking the time to drive.
Please check out 'The happening' thread on the piano forum for all the comments and pictures!
I'm sure you wanted, as many others, to play a bit more on the pianos...which was a bit difficult to do with 60 other people wanting to do pretty much the same thing...
Indeed, seeing so many pianos around, so different in tone and character can be quite confusing unless one takes the time to learn the different approaches of these manufacturers, and how these lend themselves to the player's ability to make music!
Of course, this was not possible during the party, with food, drinks, and many enthusiastic pianists eager to play some of these prestigious but elusive, hard to find pianos.
You're always welcome to come back though, and spend some 'quality time' with the pianos. I'm certain that by doing this we'll be able to sort out the confusion.
Thanks again to all for coming!
Ori

Looks like a huge showroom, and this will be a music school too? That's indeed amazing. Good for the students...
