I need to pull out of this one. I'll be doing the Beethoven e-cital, but I have too many other things on my plate to focus on the Beach. Sorry!

Oh my goodness! I love this idea! How does it work? I wish I could play something, something like Leos Janacek sonata, which is weird but totally awesome. But I wouldn't be able to learn it in time. Can I still listen to the recital?

I would love to participate. I'm not quite sure about a piece or composer, but I will let you know ASAP. Figuring out how to record and submit will be my biggest challenge!

Hi, Winsome - Welcome to the Forums! Of course you can listen to the recital. That's the whole idea! We'll post the recital on August 20 for all to enjoy. Stay tuned.

opus119 - We'd love to have you join the recital! There's much info on these threads about recording. I'm assuming by your post that you don't own any recording equipment, but perhaps one of your friends does? Let us know if you can participate.

Just a quick update. There's been lots of work behind the scenes getting the submission page ready. The finishing touches are being applied as we speak, and as soon as we're ready to take submissions, I'll be sure to let you know ASAP.

Our recital date is August 20th. I'm really excited to hear all of these wonderful pieces!

I have my recording! I have to use my recital performance in May. Since then, I've been able to make the middle notes of the tremolos quieter, but from having to practice Ravel so much, I probably can't bring it up back to standard in time, and I only have access to my piano at home where the combination of the EXTREMELY dry acoustics and very tinny sound will make this etude sound terrible (haha). So I am going to use my recital recording.

I can't wait to listen to this e-cital!

Oh dear, is August really a couple of days away. Looks like I really need to get to work and find some way of recording.

Funny how the summer months seem to slip by so much faster than the winter months. But, no worries -- we still have about 3 weeks before the deadline!

Haha - it's winter here and I assure you the months have been slipping by just as quickly for me! smile
I'm still in - just hoping my piano won't sound too awful as my tech can't fit me in for a tune until September.

Heidiv,

Please put me down for something.

Maybe one of the "Fantasies on Poems by Richard Dehmel" by Alexander von Zemlinsky.

Or a couple of Preludes Op.33 by Sergei Bortkiewicz.

Or one of Vasily Kalinnikov's Seven Pieces.

Or maybe something even more obscure, but equally gorgeous. wink

Ha! Good point, currawong. I have a hard time thinking of August as winter.

dannylux - Nice to hear from you! As requested, I've put you down for "something." I love surprises. smile

sounds like a great program, and less than a week to go, yay!
i'll probably record when i'm at home which would be around thursday or friday, so i'll be close to the deadline ^^ but if i can't make it, i'll record on my digital piano, it might not have the sonority of a grand piano but it has a much easier keyboard and i'm much more skilled playing it than the grand piano at home.

particularly looking forward to the Medtner Canzona Serenata and the Alkan Nocturne, which i've played myself. But of course, the point of this E-Cital is to get to know new rare music, so i'll probably readily listen to all recordings. And orangesodaking, i already know your recording, but it's so good i might just as well listen to it again wink

ps: yes, i think i'll also submit the Canon Op. 65 No. 3 by Alkan, it's too beautiful a piece and short at that, plus i won't miss out on the fun of promoting our hero wink
