Hello, I am new to this forum. When I was young, lots of years ago, it was mandatory that I take piano lessons. I did and quit as soon as it was permitted. Anyway, now I want to get back involved. I have the opportunity to purchase a used Korg c36 concert piano. Asking price is $650. Is in excellent condition. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance for the help.

alaska,

I googled the C36 and found nothing. It's not on Korg's website. I suspect that means it's a really old model.

My advice is this. Stop. Take a deep breath. Start to educate yourself about digital pianos. As I write, there's a link right beside me for the Acoustic and Digital Piano Buyer Online Guide. Learn a litte about DP actions, sample layers, polyphony, etc. Decide whether you want a console or slab piano. Go to music stores, headphones at the ready, and try various DP's. Keep reading posts in this forum.

There are plenty of used DP's available for $650 and even some new ones.

BTW, I bought a Korg CS15 about 15 years ago. My daughter, the impoverished professional cellist, has it now. Not bad for accompanying Suzuki students but certainly not worth $650 today.

I second Susanmusic's advice. For $650 bucks you're in a price range of brand new respectable digital pianos such as Casio's Privia line or the Korg SP250. Save up your cash a few hundred more and many more doors will open.
