Amazing. The two part invention one is even more incredible, not many people can do that.

Yea, I was blown away by it when I first heard it. I think someone mentioned this video on the autumn leaves study group thread.
Transcribing it really helped me make sense of it, and some of that is coming out of my playing too. For me transcribing isn't about copying someone, but it's just a process of understanding music. As far as I know its the only way I can understand something like this.

Hi! I'm thrilled to see this thread. Thomas Rückert lives right over the hill from me (here in Germany, outside of Cologne). He is a wonderful player—funny, kind and sensitive as well. He plays with my husband quite often. He's also a fabulous teacher.

Piano Girl,
thats neat.. . I've also talked to beeboss and apparently they both studied with John Taylor. It's a small world isn't it? I guess there are tons of great players out there we've never heard of.. except where I live..lol

Hey ET,
Small world indeed. When I'm out of town Thomas plays for me at the castle where I have my steady gig. We play very different styles of music, but the director very much appreciates Thomas's artistry.
I would LOVE to see your transcription of this—a miracle within a miracle that you were able to transcribe this!

Thanks, Having programs like transcribe! and amazing slow downer definitely helps. I just hope it's accurate enough.. some of the rhythm was quite difficult to figure out. I am also not very good about finishing transcriptions... i get lazy and I move on to new things. I recently made a list of like 50-60 tunes/solo to transcribe. The list includes Brad Mehldau, Robert Glasper,David Kikoski, Tigran Hamasyan..etc.I feel like this is the only way to learn for me.. I guess I don't want to just listen to something and go "gee I wish I could play like that!".. and also I can't practice too much as I am still recovering from tendonitis and rebuilding my chops, and I figured this is the best way to improve off the instrument. anyways I hope the transcription helps, and if you guys want any of my transcriptions, just let me know. I can make a list of what I've done so far. In fact, you can check out some of the transcriptions here.. http://www.jazzinvention.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=2378&extra=page%3D1
