My recording of this Chopin Etude. Still a work in progress. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Awesome! The piano sounds very good too. May I know what piano is it?

You have a good ear! It's a Steinway D concert grand at my school.

It seems to be that the room in which this was recorded is quite reverberant; there's a lack of clarity that - I am sure - is not due to overuse of the pedal.

While I certainly would not advocate a strict tempo in the playing of this Etude, I do sense that there is a significant change from your initial tempo at about measure 15. From there on the tempo does fluctuate occasionally and seems to be directly related to moments of increased technical challenge.

The dynamics are just a little on the monochromatic side for my taste; I would like to hear greater range of dynamics which would give, without your having to increase the tempo significantly, greater direction and structure to the piece.

All that said, I wish I could play this Etude as well as you do. Thank you for sharing it.

Regards,

Thanks for sharing. This is a really good recording. The only comments or suggestions I would make is to maybe even out the tempo a little more (it is an etude, after all) and experiment with some different microphone placement. You had enough reverberation to obscure the sound a bit. (never mind if you added that on purpose) thumb thumb
