Anyone else have the Music Mind Games gear? I bought the kit a while ago but haven't used it much. I tend to just do Blue Jello rhythm games on the board.

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of the best games to be used with the kit, coz some of the stuff (alphabet snakes for example) seems a bit too time consuming when I only have 30 minutes to fit everything in. I just want the real nuggets!

Any stories or experiences of using MMG would also be great smile

Hi mitts,
I have the MMG set. I find myself just doing the blue jello stuff, too.. the kids really like it.

I have the Puppy Packet.. do you have that? I also have the big book that Michiko wrote about the use of all the games.. not the one that comes in the Puppy Packet.

Anyway, I use the alphabet cards with the students, to show the alphabet forwards and backwards. You can also use those to demonstrate intervals. I also use the note and rest value cards and play games like "War" and "Five Hiding". Five Hiding is too complicated to explain.. you can go to the MMG website to see a video of how to play it. It's fun.. my students LOVE winning that one!

I haven't used the MMG, but I do have Whirligig games. Sometimes I'll use these in a lesson, because either they're short enough or you can truncate them so it doens't take up the whole lesson time (or more). I have my games in a basket in the waiting area, and kids are free to play with them while they wait. A few of them do this.
