A piano teacher client of mine recently moved her studio. Her new location has low dropped ceiling tiles, carpets and walls that are causing her grand piano (6')to sound dead and lifeless. I am scheduled to go there next week but I am looking for suggestions and/or products that could liven up the sound. The old studio had high ceilings, hard floors and generally good acoustics. I am thinking that a solid surface under the piano (wooden floor tile squares ? )as well as large high quality caster cups on the concrete slab floor will help as would some type of reflective panel (s) or partitions.
On the flip side I have another customer with a Yamaha G2 that sits in a large open area with wood floors, a wall of windows, high ceilings. The acoustics are highly reflective so this piano needs materials that will absorb sound but not deaden it.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. If you have some brand name products to recommend please email me.
Thanks in advance for your help.
