I have never polished any myself. My thoughts are that for the time spent polishing you could remove and replace to get the new look as well as swab the holes with ca or epoxy (let it dry before inserting pins)to tighten them up if needed. You would also be able to clean up any notches with a chisel if any are in need of help. You can also carefully touch up the black and put some clear finish on the rest of it.

Might suggest that pulling them with pliers, putting them in a gem stone tumbler and then putting them back with some super glue or other suggested adhesive will do a great job....when they're out, the bridge will be an easy clean up... The glue will prevent unwanted beats and vibrations from contributing to the sound. A firm tap will seat them back in the bridge. Just a thought..but what do I know?? P

Hey Peter, I am well - thank you for asking. The tumbler is a great idea. Hope to see you in October. Earlier in the month on October 8 Franz Mohr at the Rocklin store (you have probably heard about it already). Maybe you will be there? A chance to hear his great anectdodes and pick up an autographed book.
Woodfab, Looking for more efficient ways is a never ending task. Cutting corners is not necessarily a bad thing but choosing which to cut can be a bit unnerving at times.
