Hi All,

My daughter is 8 years old and sometimes doesn’t remember what the teacher tells her at the lesson.
Where does the lower treble clef’s C start? Is it the middle C? She remembers starting at left to middle C (C3?)
treble clefs

Thanks,
James

Yes, that's middle C. For this piece, she has to put her left hand with pinkie on middle C, and her RH further up. This is possibly higher than what she has played before.

Indeed. When the left and right hands are both in the treble clef, the clefs indicate the same notes. Middle C is on the first ledger line below the stave, whether it occurs in the right or left hand.

Yes, the fifth finger of the left hand is playing Middle C (C4) there.

When my students are first presented with music where both staves are treble clef, they usually look at it and go "huh"?

I learned to take a piece of paper, and horizontially cover the top staff with it. They instantly recognize the lower staff as being treble, and jump right in.

The hands are exactly an octave apart. I bet that's what the big yellow highlighter "8" is about. The left hand is playing middle C and spans the range of C4 to G4, while the right hand plays C5 to G5. so you have two adjacent ranges.

You're sort of picturing this:
