Hello, everybody. I'm relatively new to pianoworld, so I'll introduce myself first. My name is AJ, and although I've been around this forum for a while, this is my first post as a registered user. So... hi smile

I'm a newbie adult beginner, self-"taught". I had a Casio keyboard for years, but never played too much. However, piano has recently come back to my life with strength, so I bought a brand new DP (Yamaha DGX 630) last week =)

To test it, the first song I've recorded is Franklyn (Wonderland OST, Michael Nyman). A pretty easy song (nothing impressive, for sure), but heart-touching :_)

I'd appreciate comments, suggestions and advice. Since I'm a complete newbie, all constructive feedback is welcome laugh

Oh, btw, do you think this DP sounds too "heavy/low"? It sounds like that to me, but as I said, I'm a beginner and I haven't played in many "real" pianos, so maybe it's just the feeling after replacing my old keyboard with this DP smile

Here's the song:

Thanks for your time. See ya =)

Hi pacifier, welcome to PW!

To submit a recording on your very first post is impressive (and pretty brave), and I must say that you did a fantastic job! I am a Michael Nyman fan and really enjoyed your playing of the piece.

I don't think your DP sounds too heavy/low myself, but I think everyone has different preferences when it comes to tone.

If I could recommend something, I would say head over to the Adult Beginners section of the site and introduce yourself - lots of nice people who share similar interests in music. You could also link your video in the September 'Piano Bar' (it's where we put recordings of ourselves), and you will get lots of nice feedback there.

Well done,

Hi, Euan, thanks for replying smile

I'll maybe link something new in the September Piano Bar thread if I can record anything soon (maybe Big My Secret, I love that song, although is quite more difficult than Franklyn, so...) =)

(Btw, I see you are from Edinburgh. I was there in August and I must say it's a beautiful and fascinating city :))

Hi Pacifier - wow, if you can play Big My Secret I would love to hear that one. It's been on my 'must learn this piece' list for about 3 years now, but never got around to it. Its a great piece!

Glad you liked Edinburgh - I feel like I must apologise for the large amounts of construction you probably saw in the city centre. Its all part of a stupid plan to install trams through the city. At the moment it all looks horrible with roads getting drilled up everywhere. The city does look nicer normally!

Hehe, I can play half the piece by now, but there it is where the hard part begins so... However, I'll try :S

And in Edinburgh, I didn't notice many constructions, really shocked The only thing that upset me was that I wanted some more days there, 3 weren't enough frown I travelled all around Scotland for 12 days (1 of them I visited Newclaste and Durham too, they were close tho the border :P), and I must admit it's a BEAUTIFUL country, with nice people (and superb women ;D).
