Don't know how I got on this guy's mailing list to start with but here's what I got today. How low can one go? Hey Nancy, Will Barrow here (Learn & Master Piano)! You know me as the "PIANO GUY," so you may find this NON-piano email a little strange.
If you've ever wished you could learn to PAINT, you'll be glad I sent this. Legacy Learning has just released a new program called Learn & Master Painting by artist-teacher Gayle Levee'.
She follows the same mode that I used in my Learn & Master Piano course...she starts at the very beginner level and goes systematically through all the skills for painting in oils to an advanced level...all in one course.
They've put together a "super special" for owners of existing Learn & Master courses, but it only lasts for 4 days ($129...only at the link below).
Since you own Learn & Master Piano, you qualify for the special. If you (or your spouse) have an interest in learning to paint...
Check out the special on Learn & Master Painting here!
Keep playing, Will Barrow Learn & Master Piano

Weird. I wonder if someone is lifting words out of emails to know that you are interested in piano. Did it go to your regular email account? Maybe you requested information from him before and he's now referring you to his artistic friends. Isn't the Piano Guy named Scott something-or-other? Not that I expect spammers to be all that ethical about their impersonations. Very strange.
Nancy

This could come in handy if you ever want to change the color of your piano.

According to this I own "Learn and Master Piano." I don't but I must've visited the site at some time. That's all I can figure. And yes, it came to my ordinary email address.

I wonder if you could have signed up for something else piano-related, and had your email address sold?
I assume you haven't put your address out on a website or forum anywhere, right?
Weird.

A similar thing happened to me. A few years ago I searched Google "Images" for "Buick Skylark" hoping to find a '62 model convertible to show my kid what my first car looked like. I've received spam form a local Buick dealership ever since.

Well, to jump to this guys defense:
You must have gone to his web-site at some point. This company puts out instructional media, and I do have to say (and I am in no way affiliated, I just looked at a ton of instructional material) that theirs seems to be the best. I'm not crazy about the guy to does the lessons (he looks like my old boss who was a jerk) and the cheesy mood candles in the background. But all in all, it's a huge lesson plan, something like 14 DVDs. The company also does guitar (my friend got that one, another 14 DVD monster) and prob some other stuff too. They're not too shabby.
Once signed up, you get a monthly or so email from the guy. I'm not sure because I used my "spam email account" to sign up for it. I don't check that account often.
All in all, I don't think this is anything shady, just marketing which in of itself is shady.

Ahh, but can you really learn the piano from a DVD? I suspect that you might develop some skills, but that you will never develop any significant proficiency from a DVD.... Having said that, I just purchased a DVD on technique along with the matching workbook that someone mentioned in the Pianists Forum and will give it a go.

I got the same e-mail yesterday. I bought the learn and master guitar for my son last year and it looks like they mined my e-mail.
