We are a couple of old retirees and bought a Roland KR-11 digital piano about 4 years ago. Although my wife and I are both somewhat accomplished musicians we are ametures when it comes to figuring out how to do anything but play this contraption (which, BTW, is quite lovely). We are not close to a Roland dealer and therefore got little support in the form of learning anything...and the instructions are a disaster. I am a violinist and wife and friends are the pianists. We are not idiots but feel like it when we explore the manual and DVD we got with the piano. I am interested in hooking up with other folks having similar Rolands who can help us explore the full range of its capabilities. For instance with the right cord (wire) we think we can hook up a lap top and see what we play (accompnyment creations) on the screen, in the form of sheet music, and possibly print it out for consistancy. Other queries include how to provide string backgrounds while accompanying me on Violin, layering, changing tempos after recording, etc. HELP PLEASE! Thanks all.

Lew - I don't own a KR-11 but I do own and enjoy a KR-17M. Like you I use it almost exclusively as a piano and have not yet ventured into using any of the advanced features.

I wanted to respond to your post to tell you that I had a very positive experience with the Roland Support team both via e-mail and over the phone (323-890-3744). I had a couple of general operating type questions when I first got my Roland and the person who answered the phone was both knowlegeable and helpful. BTW - they never asked me for a serial number or any warranty related questions. I thought this might be an issue as I bought it used.

Thanks Bill that was a great help. I made the call and got a lot of questions answered. Hope to find someone in Northern IL that has a KR-11 for some hands on help.
