Well, this is not the correct forum, but . . .

Simple. Check it out to see if you like it, but you MUST have a qualified piano tech check it out. Yes, you will have to pay the tech for his time and opinion, but that will be money well spent. That's my opinion!

(A tech will spot problems with the piano, that a lay person won't, and they will be able to estimate how much will be required to correct the problem.) Even if you buy from a piano dealer, you should still have your own tech do the inspection. Essential, IMHO.)

Also, just because it's a Steinway doesn't mean that you'll like it, or that it is in good shape.

A piano this old is likely to be
fit only for the woodpile. People
want Steinways so badly, and
the price of new ones is so
high, that they are willing to spend
outrageous sums on--and people
are more than willing to sell
them--what is essentially junk.

Furthermore, your PX 100 has
sound that was probably sampled
from a Steinway concert grand.
So one might say it's better than
some old Steinway baby grand.

Steinways are not that good.
A mystique has been built up around
them, which the Steinway company
has carefully cultivated, but
the instrument itself is not
all that great.

If you want to upgrade, I'd
suggest the Roland V Piano,
at around $6000. It would play
that 1928 Steinway under the
table, and it would give you
instant celebrity. Many people own
Steinways, but only a few own a
V Piano. People will come from
miles around just to see it.
