I wrote this piece(It's not finished thought)

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mndtnzdyzwj

I have been searching for a somewhat similiar piece of music, but I have yet to find one. Debussy's Arabesque, Ravels Jeux D'eau, and Liszt's Les Jeux d'Eaux are one of the few water pieces you will find in piano literature.

The sound quality is not that great because it was uploaded from my ipod. I did a slow recording of this on my piano, and then I sped it up and recorded it on my ipod.

I think that's going a bit far. But you've probably got the makings of quite an OK piece with some more work on it.

I think you have some skill there but I'm not exactly sure what you are doing with it. I love to sight-read music , especially with the thought in mind that I might learn something . If I saw this score I probably would not be interested in pursuing the reading.

btw...I write music and if someone doesn't like what I write it really isn't important to me because I believe I am my own best critic...

It's a start of a nice "Romantic Era" piano piece.

I'm not sure what you mean by a new style. If you mean you haven't heard this melody or exact chord progression then you can call it original, but the style is definitely Romantic Era.

Finish it! It will make a nice piano piece.

Best, John smile

Sorry, but this is far from being a new style in classical music. In fact I'd say that it's exactly close to the works you mention by Debussy, Ravel, et al.

Lovely piece, quite nice harmonic progression (although it feels it's missing some augmented/7ths/9ths/whatever to spice things up) and the form is a little 'random'.

But overall a great start, worth of continuing! And bring us the score!

Well, the whole point of writing my piece was NOT to immitate the impressionist sound of Ravel's Jeux Deau, but to make everything sound "pretty" and without diminished or augmented chords like what is done in Ravels piece. Actually, I am more inspired by the beginning of Ravels Jeux Deau at part 0:49 to 1:03 and the last part at 3:55 to the very end:

The thing I was trying to accomplish was, - I wanted to make my whole entire composition based on the mood of those two parts I picked out of Ravels piece(but I would have to have a bunch of chord progressions and modulations instead of just a few progressions like the ii V I which create that mood in those parts of Ravels piece), and so far I think I have failed to do so in my piece. It might be impossible to accomplish, and even if I do accomplish it, it would probably bore out the listener because it wouldnt have any contrast.
