I play for a choir/ensemble and we hired a 21 yr. old kid to direct while our normal director takes a year off for health issues. He is studying at KU and is a 'church music minor/organ major.
O my Gosh.. he is such a remarkable organist. I'm going to learn so much.. I get a 15 minute lesson every week before practice and am learning a ton. He can create improvizations on any type of chant/ hymn tune, classical melody.. His feet move like Cameron Carpenter's. I'm in absolute awe and feel so fortunate to spend a year with him.
just sharing.

Would you say a few words about Cameron Carpenter, Apple? I am just now immersed in CDs from Michael Murray and Robert Parker, and have never heard of Cameron.

Congratulations apple! I'm not around the Forum much these days but I did want to let you know I'm still thinking of you and rooting for your success as an organist. I'm so glad to hear you will be enjoying some time with this gifted person. I hope he is wise enough to know he will also be learning from you.
