Nocturne Ecital

Today is the 160th anniversary of Chopin's death. He seems, to me, so distant in time and yet so very near when we play or listen to his music. Please do visit our NEW commemorative ecital website, where Piano World members have collaborated on a beautiful collection of Nocturne performances to mark October 17, 2009. Thank you to everyone involved, from gerg who has put up the lovely website and made 37/2 sound smooth and easy, to Mati who did clever techie stuff as well as giving a stunning performance, our hero LisztAddict who filled in a vacant spot at the last minute with his usual panache, and each and every one of the performers.
Chopin would be proud of you all.

Mary-Rose posted the above notice this morning simultaneously here and in ABF. When I first logged on this morning, each had about the same number of hits; now, though, the ABF post has about a hundred more views, while there's been hardly any change here. Dang.

So maybe it needs a bump! And as I haven't yet congratulated everyone who participated and thanked everyone whose behind-the-scenes efforts made this event (and a beautifully redesigned website to host it, too) possible, I'll take this opportunity to do so (with a bit of help).

Steven

I just finished listening to the entire e-cital. What a bright spot on this cold, rainy day! Congratulations to all of the performers, and a big thank you to gerg, Mati, Mary-Rose and anyone else behind the scenes as well.

Our friend would be proud! thumb

At this point in time, interest in the Nocturnes e-cital in ABF is more than five-fold what it is here—and that's just based on page views. There are about 30 times more comments there than here.

Does anyone care to speculate about the reasons for such disproportionate enthusiasm? I'm genuinely perplexed by it!

Could it be that some folks are not able to connect to the music links? I keep trying and apparently there are others who are not able to access this. Can someone please give us specific instructions as to how to access the music: exactly what to click on.

Ah, I think part of the problem is that on the big banner it says at the bottom, "You are cordially invited to listen to our Nocturnes ecital: www.ecital.net" However clicking on www.ecital.net takes you to an imageshack picture and not to the music.

Here, try this instead, and scroll down to the nocturnes. Then click on the nocturne titles that have performers' names next to them.

If you type "www.ecital.net" into your browser it will take you to the correct spot.

As to why the announcement on PianoWorld points to something other than that... I have no clue. That's a post problem, not an ecital.net problem.

Sorry about all the problems people experienced. We did our best.

Thanks,

The heading goes to the right place...I wasn't expecting folks to click on the invite, as they never seem to have done this on previous years. I hosted the image at imageshack.
