Hi,

I thought I'd try to connect my CLP-340 to the internet to see what the fuzz was all about.

At first I got error 944 when trying, but figured out, it was because it wasn't given an IP address. Got that sorted, which resulted in error 980 and a complete menu freeze (keys still work).

Now what's that about? And how come it's practically impossible to obtain explanations for these obscure error codes?

I've updated to firmware 1.4, btw.

OMG, is that a DP or a computer? smile

Sorry searched the web and can't find CVP error codes.

Yeah, tell me about it. It's very classy for Yamaha to provide these strange error codes, yet have no mention of what they indicate anywhere.

Stranger still that no-one on the vast internet seems to have debated these error codes.

I found a list of error codes for the CLP340 at:
http://services.music.yamaha.com/radio/faq.html?instrument=CLP-340

Error code 944 says:
Quote:
DHCP error. Couldn't get an IP address from the DHCP server (when using internal LAN port)
(1) Visit the Connect page and load your network settings to your instrument. Make sure that your network settings are entered correctly.
(2) Make sure that the power to the router is turned on and that the router settings are set to enable use of DHCP.
(3) Try turning the power switch of the router off and on again.

(I guess you've already figured that out, and fixed it.)

You asked about code 980:
Quote:
Couldn't get time information, from neigher NTP nor HTTP (with DHCP disabled and internal LAN port used).
(1) Visit the Connect page and load your network settings to your instrument. Make sure that your network settings are entered correctly.
(2) Make sure that the power to the router is turned on and check the router settings.
(3) Try turning the power switch of the router off and on again.
The "Connect" in item (1), above, is a link to:
http://services.music.yamaha.com/radio/connect/guide.html

Use that for more help. (I'd like to try that out to see what kind of help it offers, but I can't. I don't own a CLP340.)

Excellent!

Thanks a million. Got it all sorted now, though I am struggling to see the use (but that wasn't the point).

Can I ask how you found this? I really _did_ google everything I could imagine and tried clicking around the Yamaha website to no avail.

Thanks again.

I googled:
CLP 340 error code 980

The second item was the one with the answer.

I just tried that and it worked. I could have sworn I tried every combination of those words several times.

Sigh, google is apparantly NOT my friend. Thanks again!

Don't you just hate that? Google has everything in the world, but finding what you want is hit-or-miss.

Exactly. Google used to be much more effective, before everyone got access to the internet and the noise factor on searches went through the roof.
