Hi,

I have been recording with my FP-4 for the last year for youtube, I have achieved decent results through a simple connection consisting of leads from the output jacks of the FP-4 straight into line in on my digital mp3/mic recorder - Edirol R-09HR. I capture image/video from my digital camera, and mute the audio from that obviously when I create a video on sony vegas for youtube, and use the audio from the Edirol, which I record in 24bit wav for best digital audio. The results are very good.

I now have a CLP-380 and wish to create videos of the same quality, or rather higher quality if I can...what I mean is I would like to capture the IAFC effects into the audio somehow. But I fear it is not possible as the IAFC is seperate I think and will not go into the recording.

Is there anyway to get a line in recording with the IAFC effects/full sound of the piano tone? Or will I have to mic the piano with the Edirol just like you would have to with an acoustic piano, to get the full sounds from my CLP-380 (including IAFC). The only problem that way is a loss in audio quality as compared to a line in clean recording. Its that vs the full sound of the piano.

I have already made a recording of the grand piano 1 tone into my Edirol line in connection. I recorded with the IAFC on and off, but there is no difference frown therefore I need to find a way of capturing the full beauty of my piano's sound into my videos - because believe me when the IAFC is on and reverb etc.. this piano is beyond good, its full sound is an incredible experience.

Thanks

Mark F

The manual explicitly states that iAFC can't be recorded since it depends on a dedicated speaker to help create the effect. Perhaps in the future if Yamaha adds something like 5.1 they can send that data out on one of the extra channels, but for now it sounds like the only way to capture iAFC is to do a mic'ed recording. Have you tried using your edirol as an input into your camera? I've used both my Zoom H4 and Audio Technica on a regular camcorder and have gotten very good results (assuming you can control your recording environment of course).
