I have an FP-7, do not see frequency range in manual.

Is there a typical frequency range for DP's ?

To add speakers/monitors to my DP, do the monitors have to match the DP in frequency range ?

Thanks

The 88 piano has keys which span the frequency range 27.5 Hz (A0) to 4186 Hz (C8). With amp and speakers you don't want to match it, you need much wider range.

Thanks for the reply .....

Many of the speaker/monitors I looked at rate their low end around 37Hz to 50 Hz.

Does this mean lower notes on DP (below 37 or 50 Hz)
will not be reproduced accurately ?

No. It just means that the low end response falls off (weakens). That's true of any speaker.

Anyway, the specs (especially at the extreme high and low ends) are highly dependent on the means used to measure them (and on the honestly of the maker). Room acoustics, speaker placement, and the position of the listener all affect the perceived sound.

I wouldn't worry about the specs. A listening test is best.

When choosing speakers, you'll need to consider HOW you're going to use them:
- Taking them on the road to a gig, or just staying put at home?
- Large room or small?
- How powerful is the FP7's amplifier? Will you need an external amp to drive the speakers?

There are other threads on the forum (and on other fora) that cover the topic well.

No piano key has only one frequency.

Every note has a very large range of higher overtones. If you don't reproduce those accurately, you won't sound like a piano.

Home use only .... room approx 12' x 14'.... FP-7 speaker system rated at 26 watts.

Undecided on active monitor/speaker or
passive with external amp.
