Monica's comment on the recital thread: " ... I, for one, still have half-hearted hopes of getting a good recording of my more challenging Einaudi piece that I really wanted to submit this time." made me wonder where this time honored thread was. Found this one on page 19 Thaught I'd bring it back to page one

Cathy if you click on thread title you get straight to end, that's where I click.
One good practice session down, about to do another one and just felt like saying 'Damn' those Bach Inventions are hard to get perfect... the ends of notes, the ends of notes. But it sounds so beautiful when the endings are all clear, so I will persevere
And now for One nice Mendellsohn, among other things. At least I did more than One scale today. I believe I am getting into scales! It's a miracle!

And the one time I thought this thread was dead. This thread was my first friend on PW. I am glad it is not dead. Just did the Melbourne Cup Theory Race with my last student, and she came 1st. It's the Melbourne Cup Horse Race today in Australia. Most students cancelled, so I suppose they all must have got drunk instead Or perhaps their parents weren't in a fit state to drive. only joking

I used to know a guy who worked at a classical music station. One day Patrick Stewart was an in-studio guest. This was right around when he was still playing Capt. Picard on Star Trek.
They made up a special playlist and asked him to introduce the pieces as they played them. According to my friend, the staff at the station, knowing that Picard often referred to his first officer as "Number One," made a point of making sure every title had "No. 1" in it -- just to make him say it over and over.
Eh... okay, maybe you had to be there. But I, for one, found that story amusing. Sort of.

If only I had one more week... or even just one more day to cram theory before the mock papers are due...!
Hopefully I won't get to the point of taking pain killers like I had to during exams in high school and university.

this thread is a tonic for a stressful day. Thank you for all amusing graphs, radio stories... Maybe I should just hang out on ABF, and have a rest from conversing with all the well educated intellectuals on other forums - mentally exhausting and you have to watch what you say Gyabeaux, are you doing grade one? what theory exam are you preparing for? good luck for it! And now to play one scale, over and over. Off to practice see all you musicians later.

You have found the best thread of all. Print 46 pages? Surely not! Just print page number 1 because that is where a 2 red dot poster, and a poster called Naught, discuss the emerging concept of the one post, to the embarassment of a super hunky dude.
You did real good for a first timer Mr Nikolas, if I may be so bold to say so.

Hi Euan 2 red dots does sound nice. I like the image of practising with beer on the side. Rebellious yet passionate. I have One very nice teapot, but that is a bit straight-laced. That is a very pretty cake Jim Today I continue my mission, to play the c*** out of just One scale. It's beginning to have a good effect on my fingers i think. And today's One special scale is.. *finds log book* G# minor. Noice.

Hi foxy, you too, yay. Well I did it and I think that g# melodic minor is a truly tricky scale. I have an embarassed feeling that i've Never played it before. Oh dear, what a terrible teacher! Was heartened to notice that over at Pianist Corner one of the proficients said "...has a stunning fugal finale (A flat minor!!!!!)" today in a discussion about czerny. I think his exclamation marks refer to the difficulty and unfamiliarity of this key, I for One hope so. I thought the harmonic minor was quite a nice One though. DPP I don't know what "One-A-Day" refers to, I am imagining a number of ... things. Please enlighten

Canonie - I am learning the major scales 2 octaves, hands together along with their corresponding minor scales (harmonic and melodic), 1 octave hands alone then together. My teacher usually assigns 1 or 2 scales to learn each week. I am finding the minor scale fingering to be quite tricky and am hoping that 1 of these days it will become 2nd nature to me I am home sick from work again today with what I fear may be H1N1 - lots of pianoworld time for me today.
