Hello, our family has a baby grand piano that needs some work. We are wondering if it is worth it to stick money into it. The only information for this baby grand is an embossed S and an embossed R6 it is embossed in a gold metal. We also have a serial number of 16526. We can't seem to figure out what kind of piano it is and we would like to invest in it but if it is a wise choice, money is tight, like for all of us right now. Thanks to anyone who can help..
Sincerely,
The Waskow Family

Hard to say what it is with that limited information. Perhaps a technician will recognize it, but in any case photos would help in terms of the condition. Hiring a technician to evaluate it is the best way, but with more information like photos the folks here on the forum can give you some idea of what you're up against.

Has it been tuned regularly? How do you know it needs work?

Unfortunately usually if you can't find a name anywhere on the plate, the piano is an inexpensive make.

It needs work because it is in pieces and it has not been tuned. No we cannot find a name on it. I will try to post some pictures.
Thanks so much!

If you do not know who made it, it is not worth putting money into it. Any piano that is good enough to put money into will have its name on it somewhere.

The cover for the keys is missing and I think the name would've been on there. Looking at the serial number it seems like an old baby grand...just can't figure out who made it.
