I just discovered this forum; if it is not an appropriate place to post this question, my apologies.

I'm looking for - and would greatly appreciate - any/all advice about how BEST to go about selling our 2000 Pramberger. My wife bought it new, with th intention of picking up where she left off many years ago, while hoping our daughter would continue lessons and go on to play for years. Both didn't really happen.

It's a great looking piece of furniture, and comes in really handy when guests (who play) come over, but surely there are talented, passionate people who would really enjoy making the instrument sing.

But how do I reach these people? Craigslist? Internet sites? Local universites/colleges music depts.?

Craigslist and sites like EBay are certainly a possibility. I've never bought nor sold on Craigslist, I have on EBay (electronic instruments, not an acoustic piano).

If you are in a college town, certainly contact the music department of the college, maybe (depending on their rules) also post information on student bulletin boards.

Local music stores - both those who sell pianos amnd those who do not sell pianos. At least in the small town where I live, they have a place where people can place personal ads (like buy/sell a single instrument, band looking for ?? splayer, etc).

PianoWorld does not allow these postings in the forums, but they do have a advertising area (pay for the ad), I've never used it, so I cannot tell you how effective it would be - seems to me like you would definitely reach a good sized number of people interested in piano. Expect a lot of the effectiveness would depend on what you are selling, how it is priced relative to similar merchandise, and whether or not there are likely prospects in your local area.

Another posibility is to ask a local dealer to sell it on consignment. A dealer would keep maybe 1/3 of the selling price to sell it for you. They will be able to get more for the piano than you can get in an ad. Plus you do not have to put up with the trouble. All you have to do is carefully select a dealer and compare their terms. The Pramberger is a nice piano and a dealer might very much like to sell it for you. Keep in mind that the original dealer might not care to sell it on consignment. We do not sell this brand new and we like to have used piano of this brand on our floor.
