If you read my "Where In the World" story in our October Newsletter you know I've purchased a fixer-upper in Florida. I'd like to cover one wall with old sheet music (think decoupage). If you have some old sheet music in reasonbly good shape (not stained, no mildew) and are willing to donate it to the cause (cause I don't have any money) I'd really appreciate it. I'm looking primarily for sheet music that is complete with the cover. Any era is fine (I like all kinds of music). If you can help out your Piano World Founder/Host, please send the music to: Frank Baxter Piano World 9925 Ulmerton Road # 227 Largo, FL 33771 Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, in the 80-ties I was working in P.R. with a Bassplayer called Bob Bauer. He had the first Realbook ever, he told me. It was a collection of Jazztunes, published in the very old Downbeat publications. I did get for personal purpose only several pages of this outstanding collection. Here is an example. www.cisum.info/oldrealbook.jpg

Antique stores have plenty - but they want more than a dime. I paid 3 bucks for a long sought-after "Mother, at they Feet is Kneeling". Brought back memories of my first piano teacher who had the kid ahead of me learning this. (Dates me, i Know...)

The place was a complete disaster when we started (and it smelled as bad as it looked). Here's some BEFORE Pictures The bottom of the page has a link to the progress pictures. Still have work to do, but coming along.

Where did you get that G clef pillow on the bed? Needlepoint? Made by a friend? Know where I can get the chart? Thanks.

What a pleasant place you've made of that house! Although I'll have to admit to getting a kick out of the "office" picture One can't, at the minute, walk in my living room Cathy

You're right about the office though, still working through organizing that mess :-)

good luck Frank
estate sale companies that have clearing house storefronts for their leftover wares also might be a good resource.
i recently saw a 3 part folding roompartition screen covered with Beethoven scores.. it looked really cool. definitely homemade but excellent.

p.s. just saw the whole before/after series of photos. what a lot of work!!!! but inspiring what you can do in a short time to a problematic living space.
did you hire out most of the work or do it yourself? Hi Pique', Kathy and I did a lot of the work ourselves (she's very handy with tools and ideas). I hired her nephew to do most of the trickier carpentry (including ripping out and replacing the kitchen wall). Still a work in progress, but coming together now. How was your NY book/movie event?

Ok, the "Music Hall" is coming along. Would still like some more used music if anyone has any, but here's the progress report... Old Hall, the way it looked when I bought the place (additional pictures in this thread above) The New Music Hall (yes, we ripped out the old wall to the right and replaced it) Another View Again... And One More It's still a work in progress, but it's coming along. If I could get some more music (hint-hint) I'd do more with it. Also considering puting some in the bathrooms, but framed under glass. Many thanks to Barb from California, and Stella from Canada for sending along some great old sheets for the Music Hall Wall of Fame.

What magic you have done. The music wall is much different than I envisaged it, fortunately for you. I'm not much of a decorator. It's great! You've turned that place into a hall of light.

Oh, that's cool - the one from the kitchen pass-through shows how the curtains look like the wall! That was deliberate?

Getting there! What fun, and what a difference! Now you should start concentrating on certain titles or graphics would would relate somehow - Welcome To My Life All These Things I've Done Live Again Mad World It's a Great Day to Be Alive Wouldn't It Be Good Never Too Late Waiting For My Real Life to Begin I Will Survive Year that you were born (1950?) Dream Lover Jailhouse Rock Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On Shake, Rattle And Roll Good Golly Miss Molly Money Honey La Bamba etc...a theme song wall! Planning on covering it with varnish? See Paper House in Rockport - those are rolls of headline newspapers!

Your wall look great ! Even though a few of the sheets are almost too nice to glue to the wall. Too late If you still have some nice one left you should almost get some 9 x 12 music sheet protectors to store them. If you keep adding more sheets I hope you will post more photos here.

it's just brilliant..
some one may curse those walls someday.
I've 1/2 a mind to do my downstairs music room that way.

Hello Frank, I just came across this posting. Are you still looking for old sheet music? I have an apple box here FULL of old original compositions on 11 X 18 paper, lithographed, from the early part of the last century. Also there is a stack of hit parade stuff from the 30’s 40’s 50’s. Here have a look............left click on the first photo to enlarge...... http://picasaweb.google.com/silverwoodpianos/OldSheetMusic?authkey=Gv1sRgCLj3iszFxMu9ew# Now I can put all of this in a box and ship it to you but the weight is going to add up fast...I mean the whole box is more than 50lbs. Unfortunately I don’t have any sheet music from Tarkus, Trilogy, or Pictures at an Exhibition for you.
