Hello, I am new to this forum and I'm still learning the ropes. I am considering buying a T116 from a private owner. They bought it new 7 years ago and it was hardly used by their children. My question is: Do you know why the Yamaha T116 was discontinued, and is it a $$ worthy investment? (I would love to own an U3 or U5, but even the used ones are well above my price range.) I would very much appreciate your feedback. I will be looking at the T116 piano tomorrow morning, so hopefully you'll be able to shed some light on the subject tonight. Thank you.

When a model discontinuous it is mostly because another model is made. It can work in you favor price wise.
Have look at it, see how it looks and feels and sounds....

Thank you for your response. As far as you know (or anyone in this forum), were there any mechanical or design problems that resulted in the discontinuation of the T116?

The T116 was discontinued because the factory that made it, Thomaston, GA, closed in March 2007. It was replaced in the line up with the T118 from Yamaha's factory in China. There were no design issues with the T116.
