Grandbaby #1, Ian, was born last night at 12:22. 8lbs 5 oz., 20.5 inches. Great lungs. Big hands, too. Baby's fine, mother's whipped. Dad's running on adrenaline, about to collapse. Grandpa feels pretty good. Charles

I'll post pictures when somebody with computer skills better than mine shows me how. He's been sleeping most of the day. When I left the hospital a while ago, he was waking up. I think he was getting ready to entertain his parents for the night. As for me, I'm going to go to bed in a few minutes and try to sleep for a whole night, for a change. Charles

Charles, Since i am Native American,it is a custom in my culture to say a prayer for newborns. This is my favorite newborn prayer. This goes out to you baby Ian.Also Charles, congratulations to you and yours.
May your eyes see the beauty of Mother Earth May your ears hear the music of life and the sounds of laughter. May your mouth always speak truth, presented with a kind heart. May your heart always be full of joy May your hands one day grasp the hands of your own grandchildren. May your arms always welcome friends and family. May your feet always walk a straight path. And if your feet should ever stray from your path, may Creator always lead you home. copyright Carolyne Gould

Oh my goodness, what a sweetie. I love the contemplative look on his face in the first one. I think you have a winner there.

We took a vote and decided to keep him. I'm sure he and his Uncle Malcolm will get along just fine. Baby and mother are going home in the morning.
