Yeah , not dead yet. Sorry I haven't been around in a little while! How's everyone been? I'm sure everyone here will be proud to know I got a 100 first quarter of AP Music theory. I'm slowly but surely starting to learn counterpoint... and Bach makes a little more sense now. AP US history and AP Biology aren't quite as perfect as AP Music... if only I'd been studying mitosis in second grade and not piano! PIano has been going really well... I have deicded on a recital program I'm hopefully going to give in the spring at church, the local recital hall, and maybe library. Here goes: Bach: P&F #5 Bk. 1 Clementi: Sonata Op. 26 No. 2 Int. Chopin: Ballade No. 1 MacDowell: March Wind, To a Wild Rose Moszkowski: Etudes OP. 79 No. 2,4 Walker: Rhythms from the North Country I've also been doing some 2 piano work with my teacher. Gosh I never realized how fun it is to work with other people. And two piano stuff is sweet. I might post the REALLY rough run through of The Seerpant's Kiss that we recorded as part of our practice today. Fun and deadly stuff... like a snake! And also this spring I'm looking forward to playing the Mendelssohn in another competition and hopefully playing it with another orchestra. Lotta good things on my plate so far! I have some big news coming up later this week which I'm going to share with you but I'm going to wait just a little longerand see how it goes! I'm goin to try to post a little more often as long as anaphase, metaphase, and telephase don't get in the way. It's nice to be back! Matt

Hey Matt! Nice to hear from you. What's wrong with a little Mitosis with your Mendelssohn? (I'm a bio teacher).
Remember my concerto disaster last spring when the youth orchestra was so horrible? Well, I got to play the Bach D minor concerto again with a really good string quartet. It was a treat! I'm glad you getting to do the Mendelssohn again. Second time around is so much easier!
Good to have you back.

Sounds like you're off to a great year! Congratulations on the 100. Is the "Serpent's Kiss" by William Bolcom?

Nice program. How's the tennis going? I like the Rhythms from North Country. I first heard it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuxfypa8gJgMaybe Yu can tell some jokes before like on the video?

Hi Matt, I've been away too with school stuff. I'm studying music full time at University of Mass Lowell. I've been doing piano duo work as well as working on my piano juries. It's fun stuff I wish I had done this years ago. John

Marc Yu had a time limit, so he was forced to edit the piece down. Love the piece, but it took forever for Schirmer to send my student the score.

Isn't it funny that with all the various intense personalities here at PW, so many of us older adults feel so warmly towards Matt. I think it is his sincerity, maturity, genuineness, modesty and sensible attitude. I have to admit, I feel a bit motherly towards Matt and wish him great success.
Matt I'm very glad you are here. So, Nu? when are you going to find a nice girl/guy to share your life with already??? (Just kidding, take your time.)

It's great to hear from you again, Matt. We've missed you on AB forum. I'm forgetting what year you are in high school... senior? How's the college search/application process going? Is that what your "big news" is about? [am biting nails with suspense...] p.s. to gooddog: I'll confess to similar maternal feelings. If my kids end up half as decent as Matt, I'll be happy. I'm actually a junior this year... but I'm at that point of starting to look around. In state is looking like a very good option at the moment (with my brother studying engineering and flying down in Florida) haha. The big news can be found here! http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1315442.html#Post1315442
