Hey guys & gals.

Well locally to me there is a P150 that has popped up. The price is steep ($700) but it's barely been played and that's basically the guys bottom line.

I have searched and found great things & reviews about this unit with an very powerful and original Grand Piano tone. However I'm not sure if I should be worried about the 32 note poly or not?

Other possible replacements in the works (locally) are..

P250 ($1k)
CP33 ($750-$800)

Of course I will see it (maybe) this weekend to take a look/feel/hear for myself, just wanted to get a feel for your thoughts..

I saw the same Crags List add. So I looked up the specs. That old keyboard is not worth $700, not even half of that. The specs on a brand new Casio PX130 are better. Buy that and save $200.

There is another guy near me trying to sell an old plastic body 76 key Clavinova for $600. He's even more nuts.

Just today I found another used Yamaha keyboard listed for $40 more then the price of a brand new one an Amazon

What happens with CL is that the ads are free so there is nothing to loose by listing an item for double what it is worth, who knows it just might sell.

The other thing is that sellers always think their stuff is valuable. After all they paid $2,000 for the keyboard back in 1989. They have ben away from the market place for many years and don't know keyboards are like computers, not great long term investments

The CP33 for $800 sounds Ok until you figure you'd need a set of speakers and then the total price is close to a new P155 and you still lack a warrenty

A rule of thumb i used for used gear that is still in current production is to buy/sell it at 2/3 of the best price for new. So I's go as high as $666.66 for a keyboard that lists new for $1K. Once the item is discontinued it's value falls much lower

Thanks for the feedback Chris. Well there are a couple of others knocking about inc another P140 inc stand (out your way) for $799 so that should maybe go for $650..

I've already got a set of Powered Monitors so the CP33 would be just fine. We'll see what the next few days brings but I agree that's a very tough sale on the P150 and I had offered him $450 as an FYI (we obviously think alike)

I think the CP33 has better key action. That is one of my two setups. I admit I don't use the built in sound. I have it hooked up to 2 8 inch powered monitors and a subwoofer through Pianoteq... I love the set up!

Regarding the 32 note polyphony. Using pianoteq I've never played a piece that has it registering over 20 notes of polyphony, though sometimes I run midi's through it and the most complex part of Clair de lune gets the polyphony to about 100.

If you exceed the 32 notes, you can always run it through a software piano.
