I am looking at buying a piano for my daughter..We are looking at one and trying to decide.
We were told to make an offer on it.
Here is a description of it.
I would like to know the approximate value before I make an offer.
1st we are told it only needs to be tuned.
mechanically in great shape.
needs refinishing for cosmetics

Upright piano
Made excluively for and warrntied by Ivers & Pond Piano Company.

Embossed into the wood on back of piano are these numbers: 103288
2 brass pedals..
heavy brass sound board..all strings there..
Really plays well but might need tuning..
finish is worn.

37 1/2" High
57 1/2 " wide
23 5/8" deep
bench include ( hinged top )
88 keys total ( 52 white/36 black )

Thanks

Hi Joe:

I would think this to be a bad choice at any price, even free. The bench may be worth $25.00 though.

Keep looking

Steve

It was apparently made in 1964. For anything made out of organic materials that's 45 years old, the only way to know its value or worth is to have it inspected in person.

Most of the time we think of pianos from the 20's when we see the Ivers & Pond brand, which would indicate a very old piano.

Until you get familiar with pianos and their prices, a good option is to rent a new-ish piano in good condition. This way the student gets a piano that won't frustrate them, and you haven't made a commitment with a purchase.
