1991 yamaha U3 vs. 1994 Petrof - don't know specifics, will see it tomorrow. is there a preference for one over the other? how are they different? or is it just a matter of taste - European vs. Asian piano?

What kind of Petrof? Upright? Grand? How big? Which model?

I can imagine he is comparing two uprights. Petrof is a very fine instrument and I believe it is one "tier" above yamaha in Fine's book. Bring a tech to check them out but many people would consider themselves very lucky to have a U3 in their house and it would probably be hard to go wrong with that one, unless you really like the other one more.

Louis,

Read closer before dispensing advice. 1994 Petrof would be more accurately likened to Mr. Fine's ratings and comments from the green-cover edition of the piano book, from the early to mid 90's. The 2009 ratings are not relevant, as I understand Petrof has made significant leaps forward in quality in the past 20 years. Your advice about bringing a tech along is good, though.
