Hi,
I have one question, Im very good at Rhythm, I know all Key Signatures by memorization, Im good at sight reading notes on the grand staff ( all ledger lines below and above on the treble and bass clef ), I know all Dynamics symbols, Articulation marks and Ornaments. And good at Pedalling. But my knowledge on harmony poor i studied intervals and chord progressions but when i read sheet music i dont use intervals for reading. Or i dont write chord names on the sheet just i read notes on the clef and i play given chords. İs harmony knowledge very important on reading sheet music ? And playing better ? I dont think so cause i dont make a composition on a piano or i dont make transpose what do you think, on this subject ? Do i need to know harmony very excellent ? I think Lang Lang or other professional pianists dont know the harmony like chopin, liszt or other good composers. They stuck on sight reading and technics.
I play piano for 8 years started at age of 10 now im 18
sorry for my english all answers to be appreciated

Not necessary if you will always be reading form the sheet music. But it can be helpful in recognition of patterns and knowing chords.
I've found that knowledge of harmony helps me with reading, ie. being able to hear and predict what it will sound like before I play it.

Every little thing that you understand about the music makes you a better player.
Some of the harmony stuff doesn't completely make sense by itself - you have to learn more of it first. Like if you were learning about cars and the first thing you learned was "gasoline explodes if you light it"; maybe interesting, but you might say "OK, but what does that have to do with cars?" till you learn how exploding gasoline can power an engine.
