For some reason some of my favorite music is from musicals and I particularly like Hough's transcriptions for this reason.. I suppose Hough's transcription of the Kashmiri Song meant the most to me when I came of age. Its voluptuous scent was so beguiling... then there was the Saint-Saëns-Godowsky Swan, but when we got to Levitski's The Enchanted Nymph, I became the hopeless romantic I am. A few years later, the biggies -Wagner, (R) Strauss and Elgar- arrived. When I studied Webern at uni, all I could think about was those three magnificent composers. They spoke to me. But I did pass all my tests... once you understand Webern's slight musical world, he's really easy. _________________________ Jason
