I've posted some videos on my youtube channel of me playing Beethoven's op. 110. Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om8Dase8qXslet me know what you think. I'm in the process of uploading the third movement but my internet is being annoying and it keeps timing out and giving me an error. I'm trying (for my fifth time now). Should be up soon!

P.S. pardon the poor sound quality and all that!

I'm listening now....... Excellent opening. By which I partly mean that's very much how I play it too. For better or worse, it could be a tape by me. Going further.......it's starting to sound like you could be more gentle, delicate, and introspective, and I think the tempo is maybe just a bit too quick. Granting that the movement can take different tempos, I think what you're trying to do would come out better if you took it somewhat slower. Overall, I'm feeling like.......and this is going to be a word that has been used in a critical way about my playing of the piece, and I think you do it even more than I do: It's "masculine," and I think too 'masculine' -- if that word makes any sense. On the other hand...... in some places it seems like you sort of pause for a split-moment, for "feeling" and as though introspecting about the phrase and the note. I think that's GOOD, and I think it would be good if you played almost every note with some of that -- I don't mean you should 'pause' all over the place, I mean the 'feeling' and 'introspection.' I'd be looking for a bit more flexibility in rhythm, and a lot more gentleness. On the other hand, maybe don't pay any attention to me, because I just spoke with an old teacher whose main point to me was that I should stop playing this piece, because I "don't understand it." I think I disagree, but who am I to disagree with him...... OK, we're at the end of the movement.... You did good. You're off to a great start with the piece, and I think it would benefit from being "seasoned" a bit with the kinds of things I said. P.S. Please nobody tell any of my teachers that I'm giving anybody advice about this piece.

And now I'm listening, too..
The intro bars: Very nice, and an appropriate tempo. You could bring out the melody a bit more.
The arpeggios following the theme (and similar throughout the movement) are wonderful: very even, lightly done, and surprisingly without full pedaling --- a very nice effect!
I agree with Mark regarding tempo: Overall it needs to be just a bit slower, giving it more of the introspection this movement requires. When you hit the expressive bars using the high notes (spread by octaves), take a little more time then you would the rest of the movement.
Mark's comment about "too masculine" seems about right. Not gruff, mind you, but a bit of a business-like attitude that knows how to get the job done. I don't think this is a "feminine" piece, but again, needs a little more introspection, just a little more cantabile.
Overall, very good balance, very-well practiced! A good performance that enjoyed listening to.

I think you are very talented. I do not want to offer much in the way of a critique except to say that, for me, your performance of the first movement lacked the serenity and spaciousness of this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S81fdB7hrW8There seemed to be some pauses I didn't understand in the section starting around 3:48. Op. 110 is one of my most favorite Beethoven Sonatas. Bravo!

I'm not familiar with this piece so I'm not in a position to critique it. I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your expressive, lovely playing. My overall impression of rural Iowa has just taken a giant leap upwards!
